CLAUDE.md and AGENTS.md generator
Answer a few questions about your project: stack, commands, conventions and the areas an agent must not touch. You get a CLAUDE.md for Claude Code and an AGENTS.md for Codex and Cursor, ready to copy into your repo. Everything runs in your browser; nothing you type is sent anywhere.
CLAUDE.md
# Acme web — agent guide
Read this before you plan or edit. Keep it short and current.
## Stack
Next.js 15, TypeScript, Postgres
## Commands
- Install: `npm install`
- Build: `npm run build`
- Test: `npm test`
- Lint and format: `npm run lint`
## How to work here
- Run the test command before you say a task is done.
- Make the smallest change that solves the task.
- Match the style of the file you are editing.
- Prefer the existing helpers over new dependencies.
## Do not
- Don't edit generated files or anything under vendor/.
- Don't change CI config without being asked.
AGENTS.md
# Acme web — AGENTS.md
<!-- Codex and Cursor read AGENTS.md. Keep it in sync with CLAUDE.md. -->

Why each section is there
A good agent file earns its place by answering the questions an agent asks on every task:
- Stack tells the agent what it's working in, so it reaches for the right tools.
- Commands give it the exact install, build, test and lint lines to run, not a guess.
- How to work here sets the loop: test before done, smallest change first.
- Do not fences off what it must never touch. This is the section that saves you.
Keep it short and keep live task state out of it. A plan file or a board holds what's in flight; see working with agents and the CLAUDE.md templates by stack for fuller starting points.
FAQ
Does anything I type get sent anywhere?
No. The generator runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to a server or stored. You can read the source of the page to confirm it.
Where do these files go?
CLAUDE.md goes in your project root for Claude Code. AGENTS.md goes in the root for Codex and Cursor. Commit both so every session picks them up.
How long should a CLAUDE.md be?
Short. A page the agent reads every session, covering the stack, the commands and the hard rules. Keep live task state out of it; a board or a plan file holds that.
